Lionel Messi played his last game with Inter Miami before he headed to Copa America with the Argentina national team. Messi’s Inter Miami drew 3-3 against St. Louis City at the Chase Stadium in the MLS. The Argentine star scored in the match, but he was not happy with the referees after the match. After the game, Messi looked at the referee and said, “Very bad, very bad.” Messi walked straight to the tunnel and into the locker room after protesting to the referee. It is unknown what the sanction could be for Messi after constantly talking to the referee since he didn’t receive a yellow card. Messi is not expected to play for Inter Miami until late July or early August.

Messi had a great game regardless; he won the most duels in the match with 15 and completed the most dribbles in the match with nine. Argentina was also the most fouled player in the match, which happened four times. Inter Miami was down 1-0 in the 15th minute courtesy of a fantastic striker by Christopher Durkin. Messi equalized the game in the 25th minute after a great play with Jordi Alba, who cut it back to him on the edge of the box.

St. Lous City took the lead again in the 41st minute courtesy of Indiana Vassilev. Inter Miami scored another equalizer in the 45th minute of the first half as Luis Suarez grabbed a goal. St. Louis City took the lead for the third time in the 68th minute after Suarez’s own goal went in. In the 85th minute, Jordi Alba scored the 3-3 to save a point in the MLS. The game had five minutes added of extra time, but Inter Miami continued to miss chances to win the game.

Lionel Messi is now focused on Argentina

Messi will now be training with the Argentina national team for the Copa America, which will start in a few weeks. Messi and Argentina are the current World Champions and the holders of the Copa America. Argentina are in Group A, where they will play against Canada, Chile, and Peru.
