Neymar Jr. is considered a legend by many, while others believe that he could've done better throughout his career. For Brazil, he is a legend as he is the top goalscorer in the history of the Brazilian national team. Brazilian fans really missed him this summer as Brazil was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Copa America competition and only produced one win in the four matches they played in the competition. Brazil national team received lot of criticism.

Neymar was out due to an ACL injury he suffered last October while playing for the national team. As Neymar comes back from his injury, Brazil looks to forget about the Copa America this summer and improve quickly to qualify for the next World Cup. The 2026 World Cup in the United States may be the last World Cup that Neymar plays in for Brazil. And many believe Neymar deserves to bring the sixth World Cup home.

A Brazilian legend hopes and demands that the national team helps Neymar in the upcoming World Cup, as it seems like the final trophy he needs to be considered one of the greatest Brazilian footballers of all time. Brazilian legend Romario, who won the World Cup with Brazil in 1994, spoke about Neymar and the national team and demanded more for Neymar. Romario said, "If they (Seleção) don’t play for Neymar, Brazil won’t be champions... Until they don’t understand that he (Neymar) is the man that makes the difference… They will continue getting f*****."

Romario continued to speak about what the previous Brazilian national teams were like when they won the World Cup. Romario said, "In 1970 they played under Pele, in 1994 it was Romario, and in 2002 it was Ronaldo[Nazario]. If they did not play for Neymar, Brazil would not win the World Cup. They played in two or three cups and did not play for him, and as long as they do not play for him, things will continue as they are."

Neymar played his first World Cup in 2014 in Brazil. The national team reached the semifinals of the competition against Germany in a humiliating 7-1 defeat. Brazil was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the 2018 World Cup in Russia and the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. In 2018, they lost 2-1 to Belgium, and in 2022, they lost 4-2 on penalties to Croatia after a 1-1 draw after extra time.

Neymar's next game for Brazil?

Neymar hasn't played football for more than nine months since his ACL injury last October. His last match was ironically while playing with the Brazilian national team. Since Neymar is set to return in late September, his next game for Brazil could be against Chile on October 9th in the World Cup qualifiers.
