Onda Cero Radio reports that Ronald Araujo is no longer untransferable. FC Barcelona will reportedly listen to offers for him this summer, and the club wants at least $106.7M for him. His mistake against PSG has made his future more uncertain than ever; Barça believes in Pau Cubarsí, who the club considers can replace Araujo. Bayern Munich has shown interest in Araujo for a while, and if a bid near the $100 million mark is made, the club potentially have him for sale.
This week, there was controversy over FC Barcelona in the dressing room. Ilkay Gundogan spoke after the game against PSG in the Champions League and gave his opinion of the match. Gundogan said, "Everything was in our hands, and we just gave it away," which was a reference to the red card Araujo received. The card impacted the game as Barcelona was leading 1-0 against PSG but after Araujo was sent off, PSG turned it around and won 4-1.
Ronald Araujo was asked about his opinion on Gundogan's word and he said, "I’d rather keep for myself what I really think. I have my own codes and values that I think you need to respect." This made many football fans assume that there was tension between Araujo and Gundogan after these words from the Uruguayan defender and now reports suggest the two are fine with each other in the dressing room.
Victor Navarro from COPE reports that Ilkay Gundogan and Ronald Araujo met after Araujo's declaration. The meeting was completely natural and in front of all of their teammates in the dressing room. They have talked about the exchange of statements, and Gundogan made it clear that he did not want to point out Araujo and only explained the play [in which the red card was shown] because he was asked about it.
