Lionel Messi will be playing in the Copa America this summer with the Argentina national team. The Argentine star will be playing with familiar names like Angel Di Maria, Emiliano Martinez, Lautaro Martinez, Julian Alvarez, Rodrigo De Paul, and more. There is a new young man on the national team who will play his first tournament with the Argentina national team this summer in Copa America. He has impressed Messi and many European clubs. The player is 19-year-old Valentin Carboni, who plays in Italy with AC Monza, on loan from Inter Milan. Five clubs that want to sign the young player are Aston Villa, West Ham United, Brentford, Fiorentina, and Atalanta. Inter Milan will have Carboni back for next season, and his contract with the Italian contract expires in the summer of 2028. Inter will likely keep Carboni since he impressed with AC Monza this past season and earned himself a call-up to the national team of Argentina for Copa America.

Messi spoke about Carboni after impressing in the 4-1 win against Guatemala in a friendly match ahead of Copa America last week. Messi said, "Valentín Carboni has an amazing future. He is both the present and the future. I had already seen him in the U20s, but he has grown a lot. He is a different player with incredible quality."

Carboni made his debut for the Argentina national team on March 27th, 2024, in a friendly match against Costa Rica. He played eight minutes in the 3-1 win against Costa Rica a few months ago. He made his second appearance for Argentina last Friday in the 4-1 win against Guatemala, where he started and played for 62 minutes.

Lionel Messi is guaranteed a starter for Argentina

Argentina and Messi will be playing in the opener of Copa America 2024 this Thursday against Canada at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Messi is guaranteed a spot in the starting 11 against Canada, but eight names will be fighting for four places in the starting lineup.
