The EUROS 2024 is currently at the last matchday of the group stages, and the words continue to be broken at this amazing tournament. Cristiano Ronaldo has already made history as he is playing his sixth EUROS competition with the Portuguese national team, a record he has; no other player has ever played that many European Championships. His former teammate at Real Madrid, Luka Modric, broke a record that no one has achieved yet, but it is possible to break Ronaldo this summer. Modric scored in Croatia's 1-1 draw vs Italy in their last match of Group B. Modric's goal against Italy makes him the oldest player to ever score at the UEFA European Championship finals at the age of 38 years and 289 days. The Croatian midfielder continues to shine for the Croatian national team at the biggest stages, and the record could be broken by Ronaldo since the Portuguese player still has a game to play in the EUROS as he is older than Modric. Ronaldo is currently 39 years old, and he could break that record in a few days.

Modric's goal was not only vital for him in breaking a record but crucial for Croatia as they could've finished second in Group B with four points. They will not be playing in the Round of 16 of EURO 2024 after Italy drew 1-1 in the last minute. They were at risk of missing out as before the match; they only had one point after their first two games of the group.

Croatia lost their first game of EURO 2024 against Spain in a 3-0 scoreline in Berlin. In the second match, Croatia drew 2-2 with Albania in Hamburg. Modric's goal against Italy came in the 55th minute of the match. Modric had a penalty, but his shot was saved; seconds later, Croatia attacked again, and after a save made by Gianluigi Donnarumma against Budimir, Modric shot first from the rebound to score. Italy equalized in the last minute after a great strike by Mattia Zaccagni.

Cristiano Ronaldo's next match for Portugal

Portugal has already advanced into the Round of 16 in EURO 2024 after two wins in the group stage. Portugal will play against Georgia on Wednesday at the Arena AufSchalke, but Ronaldo is not likely to play in the match. He will likely play in the Round of 16 to try and break the record.
