Erik ten Hag's ambitious transfer requests have been revealed as a key factor in his dismissal as Manchester United manager. According to English media, the Dutch coach had asked for four world-class players, including Real Madrid's Federico Valverde and his former Ajax pupil Frenkie de Jong of Barcelona.

Despite being given a transfer budget of over £700 million during his tenure, Manchester United deemed Ten Hag's demands to be "unrealistic" and beyond the club's current financial capabilities.

In addition to Valverde and de Jong, the Dutch manager had also expressed interest in Liverpool's Alexis Mac Allister and Bayern Munich's Harry Kane. However, the club was unable to meet these demands.

The inability to fulfill Ten Hag's ambitious transfer plans, coupled with the team's poor performance on the pitch, ultimately led to his dismissal. With just 11 points from nine Premier League games, Manchester United currently sits in 14th place and is seeking a new manager to turn the club's fortunes around.
