"West Ham United can confirm that Michail Antonio is in a stable condition following a car accident suffered earlier today in the Essex area. Michail is conscious and communicative and is currently under close observation in a central London hospital," the club said in a statement.

"At this difficult time, we ask everyone to respect the privacy of Michail and his family. The Club will not be making any further comment this evening but will issue a further update in due course," the statement added.
