Lionel Messi's impact in the United States and in the MLS is unquestioned, as many football fans want to watch him play for Inter Miami, a club that is very young in the US. Unfortunately, the Argentine star will miss the next couple of games with Inter Miami because of the injury he suffered in the Copa America final with the Argentina national team against Colombia.

Argentina won the Copa America last weekend, but Messi had to be taken off the pitch as he suffered a serious ankle injury that could keep him out of action for at least six weeks. Now, because of that injury, he will miss the MLS All-Star game, the Leagues Cups, and a couple of MLS games.

Chicago Fire is concerned about Messi's injury and fears that fans may not want to attend the game at Soldier Field on August 31st. The MLS club published a statement regarding giving fans special deals in case they purchase tickets for the match, and Messi does not play due to his injury.

Yesterday, Chicago Fire wrote, "To ensure a full stadium and to create the best possible experience for all in attendance at our 8/31 match, the Fire are offering the Fan-First Credit Guarantee. Depending on your date of purchase, if Messi is unavailable on 8/31, fans will receive credit toward Season ticket membership, Single match tickets to next season’s match vs. Inter Miami, or Complimentary tickets to our fan appreciation match."

This statement shows Messi's popularity, and in the past, another MLS club apologized to its fans for Messi's absence. Inter Miami traveled to Canada to play against the Vancouver Whitecaps, but Messi didn't make the trip. He wasn't injured, but he decided to stay in Miami to train as the Copa America was getting closer. Vancouver Whitecaps CEO announced to their club's fans that Messi, along with Sergio Busquets and Luis Suarez, would not play in the match.

Inter Miami's next game

Inter Miami will play Chicago Fire today in the MLS, but the match will be played at the Chase Stadium. Inter Miami announced that they will honor Messi for his Copa America win with Argentina last weekend. This will be Inter Miami's last MLS game before the Leagues Cup tournament, which starts for them on July 27th against Liga MX team Club Puebla.

Inter Miami played this past week at the Chase Stadium under their Inter Miami coach, Tata Martino, and Lionel Messi was watching from the VIP seats. Inter Miami defeated Toronto FC on Wednesday. The Major League Soccer match against Chicago Fire will be the last as the Leagues Cup tournament will run throughout the rest of the summer. Inter Miami will try to win the competition once again since they won it last summer, with Messi being their best player.

Another goal for Inter Miami is to reach the MLS Cup playoffs. Inter Miami are first in the Eastern Conference, and they hope to keep it that way until they get a new injury update on Messi. Inter Miami fans hope that the Copa America final injury will not cost them in the MLS and in the Leagues Cup.
