Of the 93 minutes that Burnley and Liverpool played at Turf Moor, surely more than half were wasted. And all the chances we had in the first half went up in smoke in the second 45 minutes, which lasted an eternity.

Because both clubs lowered their intensity as if they were content with the timid 0-1 scoreline that ended the game after Fabinho had opened the scoring just five minutes before the half-time whistle.

With the return of the two strongest players in Jürgen Klopp's trident (Sadió Mané and Mohamed Salah), Colombian Luis Díaz and Portuguese Diogo Jota were relegated to the bench after their strong performance against Leicester City.

Among those great chances of the first half was Westwood's superb shot, which forced Alisson to make an impressive save to the right side of his goal, a tremendous save to send the ball for a corner.

Although Jürgen Klopp's side dominated possession, it was Burnley, strangely enough, who created more chances but without breaking through to the opposition's goal. And it was practically on Liverpool's most dangerous chance that the goal arrived.

Liverpool was content with 0-1

Liverpool, at the start of the second half, simply hold on to the 0-1 lead. There were hardly any chances until the final stretch when Ben Mee almost scored in his own goal in his attempt to deflect an Alexander-Arnold cross (80') and Tarkowski prevented Diogo Jota from finishing off a Salah counter-attack (86').

The bad news of the match came from Wout Weghorst, who had to leave the field with an injury in the 74th minute. As the match progressed, Sean Dyche's team gradually faded away until they completely disappeared from the game, which came to an end without any major surprises.

A timid 1-0 scoreline ended the round 25 head-to-head to take Liverpool to 54 points from second place in the standings, while Burnley are unable to move off the bottom of the table with just 14 points.

Five goals in eight games for Fabinho

The former Real Madrid Castilla and Monaco player is on a roll. He has scored five goals in the last eight games, all in 2022. Cristiano Ronaldo, on the other hand, has scored none, which unleashed several 'Memes' in the networks.

To find a more prolific year for Fabinho you have to go all the way back to the 2017-2018 season when he scored eight goals for Monaco.
