The news that Anthony Martial will go to Sevilla has been the craze in the media as the player will arrive on loan at the Nervion club, but when does his contract with Manchester United expire?
The question matters more than ever as in the transfer the Spanish club will not have the right to buy the player, who is looking to leave Old Trafford to get more prominence, something he has not achieved with the Red Devils.
And it is not that the French striker lacks quality, but in a team full of stars like ManU, which has players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani, or Anthony Elanga, the struggle to be the team's reference is very tiring.
That is why the striker sought to leave his club, so now people are asking, how long will the French striker be tied to Manchester United?
Martial signed in 2015, a contract that expires until 2024 with an option to extend it for one more season. And for his pass, the Red Devils paid 42 million euros. The curious thing is that Martial signed the extension of his contract until 24 in 2019 when he renewed with United.
The context of the Frenchman was very different at that time when he renewed his contract, as he was then 23 years old, had made 162 appearances, and scored 46 goals since his debut for the club against Liverpool in September 2015.
And there was one huge detail in that context - Cristiano Ronaldo was nowhere near Manchester United's orbit, so the competition at United wasn't as stiff.
So different was the context that who was the coach of that team was Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who at the time of signing the contract said:
"Anthony is one of those naturally talented players that any coach would love to work with. For a young player, he has great soccer intelligence which, coupled with his exceptional talent, makes him a player with a very promising future ahead of him. This is the perfect club for Anthony to continue his development as a top-level striker and we are all delighted that he has signed a long-term contract."
However, the context is now different and as a result, Martial is looking to leave the club and it seems he has succeeded in doing so.
The main reason was Manchester United's refusal to let go of a player for whom they had paid so much, as Martial is valued at 35 million euros according to information from the specialized portal Transfermakt, and at Old Trafford, he earned a salary of more than 236,000 euros a week.
That is why it was so important that the player agreed to lower his salary to be accessible to the Spanish club, to spend the next six months playing in La Liga.
In this way, Martial will join Jesús "Tecatito" Corona as Sevilla's new reinforcement and will be under the orders of Julen Lopetegui, something that the French striker was also looking for.
