Real Madrid is very satisfied with the signing of Kylian Mbappé this summer as he will join for free, but FC Barcelona is struggling to sign their priority player in the summer transfer window: Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich. According to Sport, Kimmich already rejected the first offer from FC Barcelona. The German midfielder has a contract with Bayern Munich until the summer of 2025, and he is linked to many other clubs like Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester City. Even Real Madrid has shown interest in the midfielder, but his future is uncertain since he could also potentially sign a contract extension with Bayern Munich, depending on what the player feels like doing for his future. Mundo Deportivo reports that in Germany, they say that Kimmich is disappointed in Bayern Munich because they asked him to push his renewal to after the Euros, and the player felt ‘hanged’ and not valued enough.

David Bernabeu Reverter from Sport reports that FC Barcelona’s new manager Hansi Flick has informed Barcelona that he will try everything possible to convince Joshua Kimmich to join the club since he managed him at Bayern Munich a couple of years ago. Kimmich played a total of 74 matches under Flick at Bayern Munich for two seasons. Under Flick, Kimmich had 12 goals and provided 26 assists from 2019 to 2021, which was some of the player’s best form of his career.

This season, Kimmich played a total of 43 matches for Bayern Munich across all competitions. He scored two goals and provided ten assists this season across all competitions, but Bayern Munich did not win a trophy this past season. Kimmich struggled under Thomas Tuchel as a defensive midfielder, but he was played as a right back again, and he helped the team play better, especially in the Champions League.
