FC Barcelona is close to making signings this summer without facing any financial breaches from La Liga. The summer transfer window will be important for the Catalan club, and they will make sure to make signings and keep crucial players. Two players that the club hopes to keep this summer are Robert Lewandowski and Frenkie De Jong. The two players are crucial for the team, and they are also valuable enough for the club to make a big sale this summer to generate funds for more players. Since the club wants to keep them, there could be tension in the locker room as a loan player is set to return to the club and earn more money than both of them. Sport reports that Clement Lenglet will be the highest-paid player on the team alongside Lewandowski and Frenkie De Jong for the next two seasons. The French defender was on loan with Aston Villa in the past season and was on loan at Tottenham Hotspur in the season before this one. Barcelona wanted to terminate his contract, but the defender refused.

Lenglet has offers from Saudi Arabian clubs, and the Catalan club wants to sell him this summer, but the player refuses. The French defender wants to continue in Europe and has interest from West Ham, Dortmund, and a Spanish team, such as Sevilla, but none can afford his salary. Some can’t even afford half. His contract with FC Barcelona expires in the summer of 2026 and he could be earning around $16 million a year.

Lenglet played 25 matches across all competitions with Aston Villa this past season, during which time he provided an assist. He has returned to FC Barcelona after Aston Villa decided not to sign him on a permanent deal, and his future at Barca is unknown.
