Xabi Alonso is one of the most chased managers in Europe, and two of the biggest clubs in Europe are interested in him. Liverpool and Bayern Munich are the two favorites to appoint Xabi Alonso next season, as both club's current managers will leave their clubs at the end of the season. Alonso has played for both Liverpool and Bayern Munich in his career, making it difficult to choose where to go next.

Liverpool has chased Alonso since Jurgen Klopp announced to leave the club after nine years in charge of the team. Klopp wants to take a break from coaching Liverpool, and now the club seeks a manager this summer. Alonso is still the heavy favorite to take over the Liverpool squad next season, as he played for them from 2004 to 2009. Alonso has spoken before about coming back to Liverpool as a coach, as he still has love for the club. Alonso was seen as the front-runner to take the Liverpool job ahead of other candidates, but now Liverpool faces competition.

Bayern Munich announced that Thomas Tuchel will leave the club at the end of the season. The club wants a different manager for next season. Bayern Munich has experienced what it's like playing against Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga. Leverkusen is the league leader with 58 points, while Bayern is on 50 points. Leverkusen is undefeated this season and defeated Bayern 3-0 a few weeks ago. Florian Plettenberg from Sky Sports Germany reports that FC Bayern has already inquired about Xabi Alonso, but the Spanish manager is focused on Leverkusen. Alonso is seen as the first-choice candidate to become the new Bayern manager.

Liverpool and Bayern will need to pay more than 15 million to bring Xabi Alonso into their club

Sport 1 reports that Xabi Alonso has a release clause in his Bayer Leverkusen contract. Xabi Alonso has a €15-20m release clause in his Leverkusen contract that can be activated by the end of May. So far, contact with Bayern has only been through his agent. Alonso does not want any disruption during the title race.
