The Brazilian star, currently recovering from an ACL and meniscus injury in his left knee, has been exploring potential post-football ventures. After organizing a three-day cruise party that made headlines worldwide, Neymar is now considering purchasing a private island off the coast of Brazil, reportedly for over $9 million.

Neymar recently returned to training with his club, Al Hilal, marking nearly a year since his injury during a Brazil vs. Uruguay match. Despite being back on the field, it will still be a while before he plays again. He shared his excitement on social media, writing: “I’M BACK!! Happy to be back with the group.”

But his attention isn't just on football. According to reports from Brazilian and English media, including The Sun, Neymar is in negotiations to acquire Japao Private Island. This secluded, 2,500-square-meter paradise is located near the port city of Angra dos Reis, southwest of Rio de Janeiro. The island is part of a bay that contains 365 islands in total.

Neymar’s interest in the property reportedly grew when the current owner, a Canadian magnate, lowered the asking price significantly. The island boasts a private beach, a villa designed with Indonesian-style architecture, two suites, a koi fish pond, and three bungalows with stunning ocean views. It also features a helipad and helicopter transfers from Rio de Janeiro’s international airport, which take around 30 minutes. Alternatively, the island can be accessed by boat.

The property accommodates up to 10 guests and comes with a private chef

The property accommodates up to 10 guests and comes with a private chef and specialized staff. Currently, it’s available for booking with a minimum seven-day stay. For two guests, the cost is $4,250 per night, while for four, it’s $5,250. The island offers various activities and excursions, with its website describing it as “a world of its own” with panoramic ocean views and a mystical landscape.

For Neymar, the island’s location is particularly convenient, as it’s just an hour away from his six-bedroom mansion in Mangaratiba’s Portobello resort on the Costa Verde. His mansion, complete with a helipad, gym, tennis court, dock, spa, and an underground wine cellar for 3,000 bottles, reflects the footballer's penchant for luxury.

With an estimated $95 million in earnings last year, according to Forbes, Neymar is one of the world’s highest-paid athletes. He has invested in various properties, including three mansions, a cruise ship, and an enviable car collection that includes a Ferrari 458 Italia, a Maserati MC12, three Audis (RS7, Q7, and R8 Spyder), a Porsche Panamera Turbo, and a Volkswagen Touareg.

Neymar’s investments and purchases showcase his ability to live lavishly while planning for life beyond the pitch, with a private island potentially becoming the next addition to his portfolio.
