Al Hilal and Al Nassr are big rivals in Saudi Arabia, and the two have been competing for titles this season whenever they face each other. The two teams faced each other once again in the Saudi Pro League, and the Al Hilal fans mocked Cristiano Ronaldo during the game by chanting Lionel Messi’s name over and over again. Chanting Messi’s name has aggravated Ronaldo in the past, but at that time, it annoyed Neymar’s teammates at Al Hilal. Ruben Neves clapped the traveling Al Hilal fans last week, and while some chanted Messi’s name, Neves said, “No Messi here. You have to chant Al Hilal’s name only.” Neves wants the fans to appreciate the team for the amazing season they have been having.

Al Hilal was the Saudi Pro League that was interested in signing Lionel Messi after he left PSG last summer. The Argentine star was looking for options after his exit from France, and besides Saudi Arabia, a return to FC Barcelona was another option. In the end, Messi picked the MLS team Inter Miami, and he became the main man in the United States since he got there. Despite Al Hilal offering a huge wage that is difficult to turn down, Messi saw the Inter Miami project to be more exciting and now will have a stake in the club, similar to what David Beckham did when he joined LA Galaxy years ago.

The Inter Miami business manager, Xavier Asensi, revealed what made Messi choose Inter Miami. It goes back to his family, as Miami seemed like a great place to live. Asensi said, “If you try to compete on equal terms with the French, English League, or Spanish League, there are things that you can never compete with. So what I did was to seek his heart and feelings and for him to remain in a good place suitable for his family, and this is what made me win the deal.”
