FC Barcelona is willing to make signings this summer, but due to its financial struggles, it will be difficult for it to make any significant signings for next season. Their newly appointed manager, Hansi Flick, will trust the youth players from La Masia, but in order to compete with Real Madrid, the Catalan club would want young players who can help the team. Flick’s main priority is a defensive midfielder, and according to El Nacional Catalunya, the club is willing to make a crazy swap deal with Manchester United. They report that FC Barcelona have reportedly offered £8.5m plus Raphinha in a swap deal for Kobbie Mainoo as Hansi Flick wants to build his midfield around him. That is equivalent to $10.8 million plus Raphinha, who is worth around $50 million. Many Barcelona fans would love to see the young Manchester United midfielder join the club, but at this stage, it seems very unlikely.

Mainoo has broken out this past season with Manchester United and has been crucial for the team at the latest stage of the 23/24 season. He played a total of 32 matches for Manchester United across all competitions, including the Premier League, the FA Cup, and the Champions League. He scored five goals and provided an assist for Man United. This has earned him a call-up to the England national team for the EUROS 2024.

He scored in the FA Cup final for Manchester United in the 2-1 win over Manchester City a couple of weeks ago. He made his senior debut for the England national team against Brazil on March 23rd. He started his first game for England against Belgium in a 2-2 draw at Wembley Stadium and played the full 90 minutes in a 1-0 loss against Iceland.

FC Barcelona will not sign Guido Rodriguez

It is clear that the Catalan club wants a defensive midfielder, and Guido Rodriguez seems to be the player that FC Barcelona is going to sign this summer. The deal advanced a couple of months ago, but when Hansi Flick joined the club, the deal was stopped. According to Germán García Grova, Guido Rodriguez to Barça is now off, and the deal has collapsed.
