Cristiano Ronaldo has been in football for more than two decades and has become one of the greatest football players of all time. The Portuguese striker has played with many great players over the years, especially with teams like Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus.

Ronaldo played and won a Premier League title with a legendary goalkeeper who may be close to retiring from regional football. Jamie Jackson reports that David De Gea could be retiring from football this summer if he doesn't receive an offer to be the first-choice goalkeeper at a major club.

De Gea last played for Manchester United in the 2022/2023 season and became a free agent on July 1st, 2023. The Spanish goalkeeper did not find a club this past season, but he is still available for clubs to offer him a contract. He is 33 years old, and he will be 34 in November, but the age is not an issue since goalkeepers can last in professional football for a longer time than outfield players.

One of the clubs which was looking for the goalkeeper was Al Nassr from Saudi Arabia where he could have played with Cristiano Ronaldo again. But there were no more contacts and things freezed. Now Al Nassr appointed Bento as their new goalkeeper, which closes the door for De Gea to arrive.

De Gea can say that he was able to share the dress room with some of the greatest players in our generation like Rio Ferdinand, Paul Scholes or Ryan Gigs at Man Utd, or teammates like Iker Casillas, Andres Iniesta and Sergio Ramos at the Spanish national team with who he won the European Championship.

In his last full season with Manchester United, he played a total of 58 matches with the club across all competitions. He played in all 38 games for Man United in the 2022/2023 season.

He conceded 61 goals and kept 25 clean sheets for Man United. He played in the Premier League, the Europa League, in the FA Cup, and in the EFL Cup. In the year 2017 he was even part of the Ballon d'Or nominees.

He played a total of 545 matches for Manchester United across all competitions throughout his career. He conceded 590 goals and provided 190 clean sheets throughout his career at Man United. He also played for Atletico Madrid, which was his first professional club. He played 84 matches for Atleti, where he conceded 112 goals and kept 23 clean sheets. He has been rumored to return to Spain but at Real Madrid or even at FC Barcelona.

Some of the most important players that David De Gea faced at his career are Lionel Messi, Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric. He played agains them in La Liga, but also in some of his Champions Leagues campaigns with Atletico Madrid and Manchester United.

Did David De Gea stop training?

David De Gea has not had a club for more than a year, but it didn't stop him from training at home. He has uploaded clips of him training at home and making some impressive saves. It seems that he is still good enough to play at a club in Europe, but he wants to be in the number one spot.
