Real Madrid drew 3-3 against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in the first leg of the quarterfinals of the Champions League. The draw seems like a win for Man City and like a loss for Real Madrid after what happened on the pitch. Man City took the lead early, but Los Merengues quickly turned the score around. Man City took the lead again in the second half after two great goals, but then a great goal from Federico Valverde in the 79th minute made it 3-3. The draw was not a great result for Real Madrid, and now the club could potentially part ways with a few players.

One of the players that did not perform well was Dani Carvajal. The Spanish right-back did create two chances, but he struggled against Jack Grealish once again, as the English winger had many chances of reaching the goal. He won 33% of tackles today, 43% ground duels, and 75% aerial duels. He committed two fouls and received a yellow card.
While the Spanish defender worked hard for the ball, the club could consider signing another player to replace him. Carvajal has been criticized for the past two seasons, but he picked up his level this season. With some inconsistency coming back again, the club may have a plan B.

Real Madrid are interested in recalling a loan player this summer. The club could bring back Miguel Gutierrez, who was a Real Madrid player last season. He joined Girona last summer for more than $4 million and has had a great season as a left-back. With the club interested in Alphonso Davies, Carlo Ancelotti could potentially play him in the right position to adapt. They could also sign Girona’s right-back Yan Couto.
