The Argentine National Team faced its first defeat after the World Cup and it was against Uruguay in La Bombonera. Marcelo Bielsa's team beat the world champions by 2 goals to 0. The authors of the goals were Ronald Araújo in the 41st minute and Darwin Núñez in the 87th minute. Lionel Scaloni recognized his rival at the press conference. “They were better, that's the reality. They deserved the victory. Then I will analyze well, looking at the development. We have to congratulate our rival,” said the coach.

Argentina and Uruguay usually play high-voltage matches. On this occasion, before the 20th minute of the first half, there was a clash between several players, where 2 Uruguayans were the ones who showed the most belligerence. Manuel Ugarte and Mathías Olivera were heavily involved in the melee, as was Rodrigo De Paul on the Argentina side. The 5 Uruguay made obscene gestures at De Paul, referring to his way of “defending” Messi.

However, the surprise was that Messi reacted like he rarely saw, as he elbowed the Napoli defender and then pushed him. Surely, the Inter Miami star came with a higher spirit than normal due to what the previous actions had been, where the Uruguayans came out to play him hard. After the game, Messi spoke that the Uruguayans should learn from the greats and not disrespect their rivals.

Suárez's good attitude

Unlike what Manuel Ugarte did, Luis Suárez posted a photo on his social networks with Lionel Messi. The 'Pistolero' did not enter the game, he was on the bench for 90 minutes. However, before the match he met Messi and gave a hug in the middle of the La Bombonera playing field, where the 'Celeste' later took the 3 points.

"Rivals, but friends too," wrote Suárez. In his post, the Uruguayan recalled what his friendship was like at Barcelona, something that will happen again next year at Inter Miami in Major League Soccer. Suárez is going to leave Gremio from Porto Alegre, Brasil to join Gerardo Martino's team.
