During the past summer, Manchester United made a big deal signing André Onana from Inter Milan. The goalkeeper was an old acquaintance of the Dutch coach from his shared stay at Ajax and came with good references due to his performances in the Netherlands and Italy. However, he has been the target of criticism for his performance in recent months with the Red Devils shirt and they are beginning to ask for drastic changes to the team.

Manchester United had a golden opportunity when they visited Galatasaray for the fifth matchday of the UEFA Champions League. Erik Ten Hag's team found the advantage with the young promise Alejandro Garnacho and a great goal from Bruno Fernández, but André Onana failed again on several occasions and allowed, first, Hakim Ziyech to find the discount on a free kick. In the second half, McTominay extended the advantage for the Red Devils and then, again, Onana had a horrendous response to a shoot from Ziyech that made it 3-2. Later, Galatasaray managed to equalize and the English missed the chance to take the 3 points.

The goalkeeper has been in the eye of the storm since he arrived at Manchester United last summer from Inter Milan for €51 million. The Red Devils are having a disastrous campaign in the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League, and much of the protagonism is for André Onana, who had already been targeted in the previous defeat at Old Trafford against Galatasaray.

'Dibu' Martínez, the chosen one to take Onana's place

He had already been one of the candidates to arrive at Old Trafford in the summer, but the Red Devils rejected the world champion because they considered that Onana "is much more skilled with the ball at his feet", according to the british newspaper The Sun. However, they ended up paying much more for Onana and now, for sure, they are regretting it, since Aston Villa had asked for 40 million for the Argentine National Team goalkeeper, and now we cannot rule out that this is the floor and that they can raise his price.
