Leny Yoro was in the orbit of Real Madrid, and it seemed almost decided that the French defender would play with Los Blancos either the upcoming season or next summer as a free agent. Yoro has a contract with Lille, but the player was not open to extending his contract with the French club. Lille wanted to sell him this summer in order to not lose him for free next summer but the fee was a problem for Real Madrid.

Yoro was willing to stay another season at Lille to wait for Real Madrid next summer and join them. The French defender was to make Real Madrid the priority and wanted to sign for them, but then Manchester United offered around $62 million for the player. Lille reportedly accepted the offer, and it was up to the player to choose whether to wait for Real Madrid or accept to join Manchester United in this upcoming season.

David Orenstein reports that Yoro has accepted the offer of joining Manchester United, and his contract could be signed today or tomorrow. The French defender is set to sign a five-year contract with Man United, and he is taking his medicals now.

Real Madrid did not want to overpay for Yoro this summer, and the fee they offered was very low compared to what Manchester United was about to pay and what Lille was asking for. Fabrizio Romano reports that Real Madrid has always been clear about either paying around $25 million for Yoro this summer or signing him as a free agent in 2025.

Fabrizio Romano also reported that Real Madrid's current strategy in the transfer market shows strong input within negotiations. The Real Madrid message said, "We will not pay any money. We have our strategy. If you want to come, you follow our strategy.”

Manchester United is very excited about next season because Yoro will undergo a medical within the club facilities, and the club has already signed Joshua Zirkzee. Erik Ten Hag wants to reunite with Matthijs De Ligt, which the club believes could have a deal agreed upon with Bayern Munich. The Premier League club is also interested in signing Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton. Manchester United fans are very happy that the club is beating Real Madrid to their target, Leny Yoro. Man Utd needed a defender due to the exits of Raphael Varane and Willy Kambwala.

Will Real Madrid sign another defender?

According to Relevo, Real Madrid believes that no center back on the market is on the same projection as Leny Yoro. The club will not be looking to sign another defender this summer and will count on Antonio Rudiger and Eder Militão. David Alaba is set to return in October, and Carlo Ancelotti will use Aurelien Tchouameni as a centreback to replace an injured defender.
