The relationship between Manchester City and River Plate has grown since the signing of Julian Alvarez in 2022. The Argentine striker has caused a lot of interest in South America after his impressive performances with River Plate. Man City signed him on January 31st, 2022, for more than $22 million but was loaned out to River Plate for six months. A similar situation is happening with Claudio Echeverri, who signed for Man City in January of this year but is loaned out to River Plate for a year. Pep Guardiola will count on him during the second part of the season next season.

Echeverri played in the last five matches for River Plate in the Liga Professional in Argentina this year. He stated that in all five matches, he scored one goal. After five games played in the league, River Plate is 7th in the table with nine points, with three wins and two losses.
