Ricardo Pepi made his first start for FC Augsburg in a draw against Eintracht Frankfurt. It was the first start for the U.S. international with the Bundesliga side.

In the one-goal draw between FC Augsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt, Pepi played 84 minutes and came close to scoring his first goal in German soccer.

In the first half, the American sent the ball into the Eintracht goal, but a foul by Hasebe ended up turning back what would have been the former FC Dallas player's first Bundesliga goal.

Pepi then had discreet participation on the field, as he ended up taking another couple of shots on goal, which found the Frankfurt goalkeeper's hands and denied the USMNT international the chance to score.

The 19-year old completed a total of 84 minutes in his first start for Augsburg and according to SofaScore had a 71.4% pass completion rate of which one was key, plus he finished the match with three shots on goal, counting the disallowed goal in the first half.

FC Augsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt highlights

Sunday's match between Augsburg and Frankfurt at the Wwk Arena ended in a 1-1 draw between the two sides. FC Augsburg faced the match with the desire to improve their points in the standings after losing the last match against Hoffenheim by a score of 3-1. Meanwhile, Eintracht Frankfurt lost by a score of 3-2 in the previous match against Borussia Dortmund.

The match kicked off in the best possible way for Frankfurt, who opened the scoring with a goal by Daichi Kamada in the 22nd minute. However, in the 38th minute, the team from Augsburg equalized through a goal by Michael Gregoritsch, thus closing the first half with a 1-1 score.

Neither team was on target in the second half and so regular time ended with a 1-1 scoreline.

After finishing the match with this draw, Eintracht Frankfurt moved into eighth place in the table with 28 points. On the other hand, FC Augsburg, with this point, reached the fifteenth place with 19 points after the match.

FC Augsburg moves out of relegation zone

With the draw against Eintracht Frankfurt, Augsburg gained some breathing space and temporarily escaped the relegation zone, although a positive result for Arminia would send Pepi's team back to the red zone in German soccer.

FC Augsburg's next match will be a tough test, as they will visit Bayer Leverkusen, a team that is third in the standings and that puts the American player's squad in the role of victim.
