The Argentine National Team has called up a set of 23 players for their fixtures against Paraguay, Uruguay and Peru. And interestingly, they've also called up the trio of Emiliano Martinez, Giovani lo Celso, and Cristian Romero to the squad that will face these countries. This is despite the incidents of the last International window when the players were involved with ANVISA in Brazil.
In last month's World Cup qualifying series, ANVISA officials stormed the pitch as the match between Brazil and Argentina got underway in the stadium. The officials were there to detain the quartet of Emiliano Buendia, Cristian Romero, Emiliano Martinez and Giovani Lo Celso for allegedly lying to Brazilian health officials about their travel history.
Brazil had placed the United Kingdom on a red list of countries and mandated that travellers who have been to the United Kingdom in the past 14 days before entering Brazil must quarantine for 14 days. However, the quartet of Buendia, Romero, Martinez and Lo Celso allegedly didn't reveal that they've been to England. Thus, ANVISA officials came into the pitch to remove the players.
Despite the controversy caused the last time, Argentina Coach Lionel Scaloni has still called up the trio of Cristian Romero, Emiliano Martinez and Giovani Lo Celso to the Argentina squad for the World Cup qualifying series against Paraguay, Uruguay and Peru. This might like cause problems as Britain also still requires that anyone travelling to the red-listed countries but undergo quarantine for 14 days.
However, coach Lionel Scaloni perhaps is not at liberty to not choose any of Martinez, Romero and Lo Celso. They are some of the best players in the Argentine set-up and thus, very important to the games. This is why coach Lionel Scaloni will risk everything to bring them to Argentina camp.
