There is little doubt what Steven Gerrard means to Liverpool FC. The English midfielder was one of the historic players of the English team and has established himself as one of the great references of English football. Now, in his time as a coach, he spoke about the current technical director of Liverpool FC, Jurgen Klopp, whom he could not have as a coach. The English midfielder shared interesting comments.
Steven Gerrard left Liverpool in 2015 after a lifetime as a 'red' player. He has now shown his regret for leaving for the Los Angeles Galaxy in 2015 and not continuing at Anfield. The Liverpool idol admitted it in a Tik Tok video published by The Anfield Wrap: “he was devastated. Obviously I made the decision not to sign a one-year extension to go to the United States, whereas if I had accepted the extension, I could have had six months under Jurgen Klopp.
Gerrard explains why he made that decision: “Obviously, being under Brendan at the time, I was told that my playing time was going to be less and less. I didn't want to be a substitute for Liverpool, I didn't want to be a player in the squad. I still felt that he was the best midfielder at that time.” Steven Gerrard, for many, is one of the best footballers in the history of Liverpool FC, and the player was really very transcendent in various achievements of the Anfield team, mainly in the Champions League.
A situation that he regrets because if he had waited a little, he would have coincided with Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool: “Now I look back and if I had known what was going to happen 100%, I would have signed the one-year extension and "I would have endured four or five months of Brendan to play six months of Klopp."
