As Manuel Neuer approaches the end of his contract in the summer, Bayern Munich is beginning to plan for a future without its long-standing captain. While the club remains keen on extending Neuer's contract beyond 2025, the Bavarians are also actively seeking potential successors.

According to reliable sources, negotiations are underway to extend Neuer's contract by an additional year until 2026. However, the club is simultaneously exploring options for a long-term replacement.

Alexander Nübel is the frontrunner to become Neuer's successor. The 28-year-old goalkeeper is currently on loan at Stuttgart and could return to Munich next summer. However, the club is not limiting its search to Nübel alone and is also considering other promising young goalkeepers.

Two names that have been mentioned are Jonas Urbig (21, Cologne) and Bart Verbruggen (22, Brighton). Both goalkeepers are highly regarded and seen as potential long-term solutions for the Bayern Munich goalkeeping position.

The plan is for one of these younger goalkeepers to initially serve as a backup to Nübel, providing competition and ensuring a high level of goalkeeping in the squad.

Bayern Munich's proactive approach to succession planning demonstrates the club's commitment to maintaining its high standards, even as one of its legendary players nears the end of his career.
