Jamie Carragher has playfully urged Liverpool manager Arne Slot to maintain his impressive start to the season, as it keeps his sports bar in New York City buzzing with fans on matchdays. Since Slot took over, Liverpool has seen a remarkable run of success, winning nine of their first ten matches, including a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace. The Reds sit atop the Premier League and have maintained a perfect record in all cup competitions, easing the transition from Jurgen Klopp's era to the present.

Carragher, a Liverpool legend who retired in 2013 before Klopp’s transformative reign, has made a name for himself post-football as one of the most popular soccer pundits. In addition, he opened a thriving sports bar in NYC’s financial district in 2015, which has since become a go-to destination for soccer fans, especially Liverpool supporters.

The Growth of Carragher’s Bar

Carragher’s bar has experienced a rise in popularity alongside Liverpool’s recent success. The bar, which hosts karaoke nights and special events, is particularly lively on matchdays, drawing a crowd of dedicated fans. Carragher attributes some of the bar's success to Liverpool’s strong performance in recent years, and he’s hopeful that Arne Slot can continue the momentum that Klopp built. "It helps that Liverpool are doing well... Hopefully, Slot can continue the ride we've been on with Klopp because that's a massive help," Carragher told Liverpool.com.

He also highlighted the importance of European matchdays for the bar, given the time difference between the U.S. and the UK. Carragher noted that Champions League nights are particularly popular, as they are easier for fans in New York to attend compared to early Premier League kickoffs.

Carragher’s Role and the Creation of the Bar

Although Carragher’s name is associated with the bar, he admits that he doesn’t consider himself the true owner. He credits Brian McLaughlin, an Irish Liverpool fan and experienced bar manager, with running the business. McLaughlin, who owns several bars in New York and Pennsylvania, came up with the idea of opening a Liverpool-themed bar in NYC after a conversation with Carragher’s father.

Carragher explained how the partnership came about: "Brian... asked about the idea of naming a bar after me in New York. It’s not something a lad from Bootle usually gets, so it was always going to get the green light." Since then, Carragher has supported the bar by sending memorabilia from his playing days and visiting the venue once or twice a year to check in.

A Place for Liverpool Fans in NYC

Carragher’s Bar has become a hub for Liverpool supporters in New York, where fans gather to watch matches, celebrate victories, and relive iconic moments from the club’s history. Filled with memorabilia from Carragher’s career, the bar is a reflection of his passion for the club and the dedication of its staff. Carragher credits the success of the bar to McLaughlin and his team, saying, "The credits go to the staff and Brian... they've made the bar what it is."

As Liverpool continues to thrive under Slot’s management, Carragher’s Bar is sure to remain a bustling hotspot for soccer fans in New York City.
