Toca Football, a UK-based startup, has raised approximately $100 million in a new funding round backed by investors, including Harry Kane, the captain of England’s national soccer team. The company plans to use the funds to expand into the U.S., starting with a new interactive facility near Dallas, which is set to open before the city hosts matches for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Toca Football currently operates two locations in England that combine interactive soccer, gaming, and dining. The company aims to replicate the success of Topgolf, a chain that popularized golf with a broader audience. "Just as Topgolf has opened the sport of golf to an entirely new segment of the market, we believe we have the ability to do the same with soccer," said Toca CEO Yoshi Maruyama.

Strategic Expansion and Investor Support

With this latest round of funding, Toca has raised a total of $233 million. While the company did not disclose its current valuation, data from PitchBook estimated Toca’s worth to be around $450 million in early 2023. Topgolf, the model for Toca’s approach, was acquired by Callaway Brands in 2021 for $2.3 billion, including debt, according to data analyzed by Bloomberg.

Toca’s primary business has been building high-end soccer training centers across North America. In 2022, it partnered with Major League Soccer (MLS) to grow the sport and help develop top-level players. Jim Kavanaugh, the owner of St. Louis City SC, an MLS club, also participated in the latest funding round, signaling growing support from the professional soccer community.

Plans for North American Growth

Toca Football's long-term plan is to open hundreds of social venues and training centers across North America. Maruyama stated, "We have the vision to be in virtually every metropolitan city in North America." The company’s expansion into the U.S. aims to attract not only soccer fans but also a broader audience through a unique sports entertainment experience.
