Real Madrid is about to sign Kylian Mbappé as a free agent this summer, who is arguably the best player in the world. Los Blancos already has one of the best squads in the world, and adding Mbappé will only make them stronger. FC Barcelona has appointed Hansi Flick as their new manager, and now, the plans for the future of the club could be slightly different. The Catalan club will count on Robert Lewandowski next season as Flick likes the player, but his replacement could soon be Erling Haaland. La Gambeta Sports reports that Lewandowski is likely to leave the club in the summer of 2025 and will hope to bring in more earnings from the newly renovated Camp Nou. FC Barcelona is hoping to sign Haaland either next summer or the summer of 2026.
A couple of months ago, it was heavily reported that the plan of signing Haaland was possible for FC Barcelona next year. FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta reportedly has a great relationship with Haaland’s agent, and the club will be able to afford his signing once the new Camp Nou is ready. There have reportedly been meetings between Laporta and Halaand’s agents in the last few months, which makes the Catalan club optimistic about signing him soon to compete with Real Madrid.
Haaland has a contract with Manchester City until the summer of 2027. This season, the Norwegian striker was the Premier League’s top goalscorer for the second time in a row. Haaland played 45 matches with Manchester City this season across all competitions. The Man City striker scored a total of 38 goals and provided six assists. With Man City, he won the Premier League, the UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup.
Real Madrid has shown interest in signing Haaland in the past, and FC Barcelona is trying to prevent them from signing him. Another player they are both linked with is Joshua Kimmich from Bayern Munich. Barcelona may have the edge over Real Madrid in signing Kimmich this or next summer. Hansi Flick wants to sign the midfielder since the two were great together at Bayern Munich a couple of years ago.
