The Theater of Dreams would be demolished to make way for Manchester United's new stadium, which will be worth $2.5 billion. The Red Devils team has been planning the construction of its new stadium for some time. But at what cost? The debate began among the fans of the English team who are very nostalgic knowing that they can tear down their stadium.

Manchester United's idea is to make the largest stadium in all of England with a capacity to hold 100,000 spectators. The estimated construction time of the new Theater of Dreams will be 6 years. Ratcliffe will begin the project and is obtaining all necessary permits for construction. Another option would be to remodel the current stadium, however, they will not be able to increase its capacity due to risk issues.

It may be something similar to what happened with the Santiago Bernabeu, which was not a demolition as such, but rather a restructuring of the sporting scene. In the end, these types of interventions, according to Ratcliffe, would be worth $350 million. That is why the idea is to make a strong investment and demolish the stadium, to give life to a new one, starting from its foundations.

According to BeinSports, the design of the new stadium is carefully made to maintain the essence of the Theater of Dreams: "The design of the new stadium is being carefully considered maintaining historic elements of Old Trafford, such as the characteristic red bricks and the distinctive roof. The idea "is to avoid a too modern finish, preserving the legacy and identity of the club."

When was Old Trafford opened?

The Manchester United stadium was inaugurated on February 19, 1910 with a capacity of 80,000 spectators and was one of the largest works of sports architecture in England. The stadium already underwent reconstruction in 1949, and so on for all these years. The sporting scene has witnessed great achievements by Manchester and that is why the fans have great affection for it.
