Lionel Messi has penned a touching message to his long-time teammate and friend, Andrés Iniesta, following the Spanish midfielder’s announcement of his retirement from football. In a heartfelt post on his official Instagram account, Messi expressed his admiration for Iniesta and the special bond they shared during their years together at FC Barcelona.

Messi's Emotional Goodbye to a Legendary Teammate

Messi, who captains both Inter Miami and the Argentina national team, took to social media to bid farewell to one of the most iconic figures in world football. “One of the teammates with the most magic, and one of the ones I enjoyed playing with the most,” Messi wrote in his Instagram story. “Andrés Iniesta, the ball will miss you, and so will we. I wish you all the best always, you’re a phenomenon.”

The two football legends shared the field at Barcelona for over a decade, creating some of the most memorable moments in the club's history. Iniesta left Barcelona in 2018 to continue his career in Japan with Vissel Kobe, but his influence and partnership with Messi have remained an enduring part of the club’s golden era.

An Unstoppable Duo at Barcelona

During their time together at FC Barcelona, Messi and Iniesta formed one of the most successful duos in football history. The two played 489 matches together, winning 337, drawing 96, and losing only 56 times. With a winning percentage of 68.9%, their partnership was a driving force behind the team's dominance during their shared years.

Messi and Iniesta also collected numerous trophies, with the four UEFA Champions League titles standing out among their greatest achievements.
