The Qatar businessman wants to have more power in European football

Qatar Sports Investments (QSI), the majority owners of Paris Saint-Germain, have completed the purchase of a minority stake in the Portuguese club Sporting Braga. The organization share that they will own 21% of the shares of the professional football of the club. The press values the Portuguese squad at €100 million and is yet to be certified.

Qatar Sports Investments (QSI) is a Qatar-based investment company that owns and operates several sports teams and events. It is best known for its ownership of the Paris Saint-Germain Football Club, but now it will also be known as co-owners of Sporting Braga in Portugal.

QSI was founded in 2005 and no one actually knows who owns it but it is believed the Qatari government and Qatar Olympic Committee are the main ones responsible for the company. In addition to its investment in PSG, QSI also owns a manufacturer of clothing and a marketing service industry. It recently acquired a minority stake in Braga marking QSI's first foray into Portuguese football.

What did Nasser Al-Khelaifi say?

The PSG and QSI chairman spoke to the press about what this takeover means for the Portuguese clubs: "Qatar Sports Investments is proud to invest in leading sports businesses and brands around the world, enabling them to reach their full potential. "We believe that this is the right shareholder to accelerate our growth and expansion, helping us deliver on our amazing potential as a club"
