New season and same scenario for Manchester United. The first game of the Ten Hag era in the Premier League could not have started any worse, losing in front of their home fans against Brighton. From the start, Cristiano's substitution in the match foreshadowed that the game would have more history than it might seem. The Dutch coach wanted to change the face of the team, but it continues to show defensive weakness.

United went into the break with a two-goal deficit and Ten Hag had no choice but to pull Cristiano to try to come back, but despite a great second half from the Portuguese they left empty-handed and nerves have arrived at Old Trafford on the first day, as they do not want to go through another season like the previous one.

The reactions were not long in coming and Roy Keane, for Sky Sport, mocked Cristiano remembering that last week he left the stadium before the end of his team's match against Rayo Vallecano: "Yeah well I'm glad he didn't leave early," said Keane, "but he's obviously a good option".

Keane slams Man United's start to the season

"But I go back to the personalities in the team, in the middle of the park all over the place, gaps everywhere. Eriksen, Fernandes, out of possession Man United are as poor of any team in the Premier League, I know it's early days but I'm going back to the habits of last season. It's alright when you're in possession but out of possession, too open."
