The Blues have been negotiating for weeks for the Dutch center-back, one of those chosen to soften the important departures of Antonio Rüdiger, who has gone to Real Madrid, and Andreas Christensen, signed by Barcelona.

After securing the signing of Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli for a figure of around 40 million euros, the efforts were now hovering over Aké, although Chelsea has received a big setback in the form of City's refusal.

Manchester City do not want to part with the Dutchman, who will remain in their ranks, as The Guardian points out, so Chelsea have already set their sights on other targets such as PSG's French center-back Presnel Kimpembe.

Guardiola decided to keep Aké

Apparently, the talk between Aké and Pep Guardiola has been decisive for his permanence at City. The manager was worried of the hole Aké could leave in his squad and decided to delegate for the player to stay. City has also opened the exit door to Zinchenko, wanted by Arsenal.
