If this coach arrives in El Tri, Carlos Vela will be the first on his list of players

Although for the first couple of years with Gerardo “Tata” Martino as Mexico National Team coach, El Tri only lost one game, since 2021, the performances of the Aztec team were diminished, especially after facing USMNT and Canada MNT.

That’s when it became evident that Martino was stuck with the same players and the same system that not always works against CONCACAF rivals, but he has refused to call different players, like Carlos Vela or Javier Hernández, not even when El Tri’s ticket to Qatar 2022 was jeopardized.

Why is Televisa behind his veto?

Televisa knew that Carlos Vela’s presence in El Tri will stop Diego Lainez’s development as an El Tri superstar, which is why they decided to keep him out of the calls. But also, because he was an inconvenience as he was the only player that spoke up about the prizes some players were getting from sponsors and that it wasn’t the same for everyone.
