Mexico finally lost to the Argentine national team in the 2022 World Cup. The Mexican team did not achieve the expected result and much of it is attributed to coach Gerardo Martino to be able to transcend in the expected way. After the match, the coach tried to defend himself as best he could.

Argentina and Mexico closed a hard-fought match at the Lusail Stadium where everything was decided thanks to a brilliant performance by Lionel Messi, who opened the scoring and Enzo Fernandez closed the game with the second goal. At the end of the match, Gerardo Martino established some positions that did not please the fans.

When the match between Mexico and Argentina ended, Gerardo Martino went straight to the tunnel and had a conversation with Lionel Scaloni instead of being in the locker room with his players and supporting his team after the painful defeat that could leave them out of the World Cup.

Will Martino remain at El Tri?

The Argentinean coach's future at the helm of the Mexican national team is not assured. According to RECORD, Martino had already decided before the start of the World Cup that he would no longer be in charge of El Tri because the coach does not see the future and wants to return to his country.
