Héctor Herrera experienced his third start so far this season in LaLiga. Diego Simeone revolutionized his team with five changes, including the Mexican, who had not started a match in the Spanish championship since October 28, 2021.

It took three and a half months for the Mexican player to be considered again by Diego Simeone for his starting lineup, which included Herrera for this Saturday's match against Osasuna.
Atlético de Madrid took three vital points from El Sadar (0-3) thanks to three strikes that counteracted the energy displayed by Osasuna for a large part of the match, in which the rojiblancos made their efficiency count.
The first time Herrera was a starter in LaLiga was on September 21, 2021, in the match against Getafe, a game in which the Mexican played 84 minutes in the Colchoneros' 1-2 victory over Getafe.
Subsequently, on October 28, 2021, he again started a match. On that occasion, the Pachuca youth player played 59 minutes in the 2-2 draw against Levante, a match corresponding to the eleventh LaLiga matchday.
Outside of the Spanish championship, the last time the Mexican had been a starter for Atlético de Madrid was on January 19, 2022, when he started the Copa del Rey round of 16 match against Real Sociedad, a team that ended up eliminating them after a 2-0 win.
Before this Saturday's match against Osasuna, the Mexican had played 473 minutes so far in the 2021/2022 season, in the 17 matches in which he had participated.
Herrera, who joined Atlético de Madrid for the 2019/2020 season, has played 68 games for the Spanish squad, with whom he has 2,981 minutes of playing time with one goal and four assists.
"We came from a hard blow, difficult because we had few days to prepare for the match against a very tough team, we started very well, with a good step beyond the goal and with Marcos in the middle of the field that gives us what we all know.
A good game by Vrsaljko allowed us to have Marcos in the middle, Herrera had a great game, Koke was very good. They were all very consistent and with personality. We were also very hungry to win. We were also lucky because the post could have weakened us. In the second half, we took advantage of the strength of our players".
Will Javier Hernández follow Carlos Vela’s decision of retiring from Mexico National Team?
