In the first half stoppage time, the Argentine player Rotondi was sent off for a tackle with excessive force against Atlas' Anderson Santamaría. The situation was reviewed by the VAR, which considered the Argentine to have been sent off. From then on, things went uphill for "La Maquina" and Diego Aguirre. 

The coach left with considerable dissatisfaction after the decisions of the central judge Óscar Macías, who had to be guided by the VAR to determine the expulsion of the Cementero player in the match. Evidently, Cruz Azul had to modify its system by playing with a man less and complicating the local team in other ways.

What does Diego Aguirre think of the sending-off?

The Uruguayan coach of Cruz Azul considers that the sending-off was absolutely unfair and qualifies it as a very serious mistake that should not be taken lightly. All of this, taking into account the recent controversy about the alleged help given by the Refereeing Commission to the Academy's players.
