Even if Tigres won 4-2 the second leg of the semifinals of Clausura 2022 against Atlas FC, the 5-4 aggregate favored the Rojiblancos, who earned the ticket to their second final in the same number of seasons, and now are looking to win back-to-back Liga MX titles.

The European player that Juan Carlos Osorio wants to accept arriving at Chivas

The project that Miguel Herrera has tried to establish in Tigres since his arrival a year ago failed once again, as it didn’t matter that they finished the season standing second, with only four defeats in the season, once they needed to show why they were the most offensive team, they couldn’t prove it.

Their debacle started in their quarterfinals, where the position on the table is what gave them the ticket to semifinals, as Cruz Azul was superior for most part of the series, and Atlas FC finished proving that either Tigres or Herrera are not made for the knockout stage.

Los Felinos will now have to plan which players remain in the roster, which are going to leave and the additions that they will have over the summer to try to win a new Liga MX title, something that they haven’t been able to do since 2019.

Chivas, interested in one of Tigres players

Chivas know that no matter who is the coach that will be on the dugout for Apertura 2022, they need to strengthen their squad to be able to compete in Liga MX and avoid having another irregular season like Clausura 2022.

That’s why they want to add Jesús Angulo from Tigres, as the left-back has lost his starting role after arriving during the winter transfer window, and El Rebaño could use a younger player in that position, as Miguel Ponce, who is 33, has looked overplayed at times.

Angulo also knows that leaving Tigres for the second semester of 2022 is the best option for his career, as before losing his protagonist role, Gerardo “Tata” Martino was considering him to be on the mix for the final roster that play in Qatar 2022 for Mexico National Team.

Can he arrive at Chivas?

The 24-year-old signed with Tigres until 2025 after they acquired him from Atlas FC for $7.4 million. Although he’s willing to leave, even on a loan, his past in one of Chivas’s biggest rivals could influence his decision, leaving Chivas out of the race.
