In the summer of 2020, Chelsea signed English left back Ben Chilwell from Leicester City for an initial fee of £45m that rose to £50m due to add-ons after Chelsea won the UEFA Champions League. Chelsea legend Frank Lampard was the manager that splashed the cash to bring Chilwell to Stamford Bridge.
Frank Lampard is no longer at Chelsea and his successor has kept the same faith in Chilwell. The 24year old started the season poorly and on the bench due to the form of rival Marcos Alonso but when his chance came calling against Southampton he took it and scored though he first conceded a penalty.
Ben also scored the only goal as Chelsea beat Brentford in a hard-fought win last week. This week he got on the score sheet in the 7-0 romp of Norwich City and that has brought him to scoring in four straight Premier League games including last season's final day match, the 2-1 loss to Aston Villa.
The last Chelsea player to do this was Chelsea's greatest player and highest goalscorer Frank Lampard who scored in four consecutive games in 2013. He would be a proud manager that his own signing has matched his records even though he's no longer at the club.
