Landon Donovan is the most important player of the USMNT and a fundamental figure in LA Galaxy, so much so that the team has decided to build a statue to Donovan, here is all about the tribute.

Landon Donovan's career was spent mainly in the USA, we also remember Everton, Bayern Munich and a little bit of Leverkusen, but the reality is that talking about Landon Donovan immediately takes us back to Los Angeles Galaxy. He arrived in 2005 after three seasons in San Jose.

LA Galaxy has five titles of which Donovan was involved in four and two of them were won alongside David Beckham, a man who today has a statue outside the Dignity Health Sports Park. So it was impossible to leave him without one of his own, and the organization has finally decided it's time to honor the greatest American Major League Soccer ever had.

"It's kind of hard to explain because, in theory, unless you're a former Confederate general, a statue is eternal, so I understand the significance of this," Donovan commented after learning of the realization of his own bronze image. "I'm honored and proud to have been a part of a club that ultimately had too much success and was a big contributor to it. My family and I are beyond grateful."

"We are all trying to create in this country a lasting tradition. This is one of the first steps, for clubs to do this. When you travel around the world, to different soccer teams, they have their history and a tangible tradition. You can feel the history and you can feel what it means to play there. It's very important to honor those who have contributed in a significant way," added the top player in the history of the U.S. National Team, comparing these recognitions to those that can be found outside the Lakers' Staples Center.

In 2016 Donovan retired for good after returning for a six-game stint with the Galaxy and did so with his name on high by recording the most goals and assists in league history with 145 and 136, respectively, making him MVP. Now, every time you go to see the Galaxy play, it will be impossible not to remember the best moments.

What is Landon Donovan doing today?

After retiring from MLS, Landon Donovan did the unexpected by coming to play in Mexico with Club Leon of the first division. From there he went to futsal with a San Diego outfit and, upon residing there, his business and managerial side emerged as he became the owner of the USL's San Diego Loyal. At this club, Donovan also serves as coach and executive vice president of operations.
