Argentina continues to be the heavy favorite to win the Copa America this summer, but there is concern within the fanbase and the team because of the injury updates with Lionel Messi. Ever since the game against Chile, Messi has felt the same as he suffered a minor injury that kept him out for the match against Peru in the group stage. Argentina still won the match as they defeated Peru 2-0 to win the group with nine points out of nine, but the fans do want to see Messi back on the pitch for the knockout stages. Argentina will take on Ecuador tomorrow, and over the past week, there was worry that he may not play in the quarterfinals, but there is a new update that relieves the fans and Messi himself. Gaston Edul reported that Messi has completed a full training session with the team. They still haven't decided if he will start against Ecuador, and one training session is left to determine the Argentine's fitness levels. Argentina will play against Ecuador tomorrow at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.

Leo Paradizo from ESPN Argentina gives this update on Messi's fitness levels ahead of the Ecuador match. He reports that "Messi is getting better and better. He completed the entire practice session yesterday for the first time since the match against Chile. 'He is very motivated,' they say. His right adductor is showing very favorable progress. But for now, to be cautious, having him on the bench remains the most likely option."

Reports from the camp suggest that Messi feels ready to play, but he will decide with the manager, Lionel Scaloni, whether he should star or not against Ecuador. If he doesn't start, the attack will likely include the striking duo of Lautaro Martinez and Julian Alvarez. Both players are the only ones to score for Argentina in the Copa America so far.

Argentina's road to the quaterfinals

Argentina has performed perfectly in terms of results at the Copa America so far. They have scored five goals in three games and have yet to concede. Lautaro Martinez scored four goals in the competition, while Julian Alvarez scored one.
