Premier League clubs have had a plethora of attacking talents over the years who have broken numerous records. The likes of Alan Shearer, Dennis Bergkamp, Robin van Persie, Didier Drogba, Frank Lampard, and Luis Suarez have starred for Premier League clubs and hold numerous club records. We'll look at the record holders for goals and assists in the English Premier League for the top clubs.
Current Derby County manager, Wayne Rooney holds the record for the most goals scored in the Premier League for Manchester United. The forward scored a total of 208 goals for the Red Devils. Welsh midfielder, Ryan Giggs holds the record for the most assists for Manchester United with 162 assists. He beats Wayne Rooney to the gong with the Englishman laying on 103 assists in the Premier League.
London club, Chelsea has legendary player and erstwhile coach, Frank Lampard as both their record goalscorer and assists maker. Lampard scored 177 goals in the Premier League and made 102 assists for the Blues. He was recently sacked by the club, and replaced by Thomas Tuchel, after coaching the first team for a year and a half and qualifying for the UEFA Champions League as well as getting to the FA Cup final.
Liverpool is one of the clubs to have produced iconic goalscorers and playmakers in the Premier League era. Robbie Fowler is Liverpool's leading goalscorer in the Premier League with 163 goals. While Steven Gerrard is the player with the most assists for Liverpool with 92 assists. James Milner has a realistic chance of catching up with Gerrard on the assists list with 85 assists so far and still counting.
The Citizens might have a relatively shorter history amongst the English Premier League elites but they have produced iconic strikers and playmakers. Argentine forward, Sergio Aguero is their record goalscorer with 184 goals scored across a decade at the Etihad. Whilst Spaniard, David Silva holds the record for the most assists for Manchester City with 93. Kevin de Bruyne is on 78 but with two or more seasons with the club, you can expect the Belgian to catch up to Silva.
