Roberto Firmino will play in Saudi Arabia. The Brazilian player was presented as Al Ahli's new player and signed for two seasons with a salary of around 20 million dollars a year. Now, the other Liverpool FC player who could join him is a surprise.
In a surprise move, Al-Ettifaq has listed Liverpool's Jordan Henderson as a potential target after the Saudi Arabian club confirmed the arrival of Steven Gerrard as their new manager last Monday.
The Reds legend initially turned down a move to the Saudi Pro League side, but the club confirmed on Monday that the former Aston Villa boss will take charge ahead of the new season after signing a two-year contract. Like several clubs in the Saudi Arabian league, Ettifaq will be looking to bring in some big names from Europe, and one of Gerrard's first targets is Liverpool's Jordan Henderson.
The current team captain could leave in the summer, however, Klopp wants to keep him for at least one more season. Henderson has been at Anfield for 12 years and is still under contract until 2025, so it remains to be seen if he could be tempted by the offer in the Saudi league. At the moment, he has backing from the club and they believe he has earned the right to decide. Liverpool have already signed two midfielders this summer and are targeting a third, meaning the 33-year-old's playing time will be significantly reduced.
