With just 16 years and after five games played, LAFC wonder kid Christian Torres scored his first goal on the MLS. It was on Sunday night, when the team coached by Bob Bradley tied 1-1 against Portland Timbers on Week 19 of the regular season. Torres scored an equalizer from inside the box with a clear hit with his talented left foot.
Born in California, Torres is one of the greatest MLS talents. With his goal, he has transformed himself in the youngest goalscorer ever in MLS history, leaving behind Cade Cowell, Ricardo Pepi or Caden Clark. When netting the ball, Torres was exactly 16 years and 186 days old, an all-time record.
Despite the interest of many clubs in the world that the wonder kid may have, he is still priceless. The academy product has signed a homegrown contract recently and in July and is just taking his very first steps at soccer. As being under-aged it is impossible to think that he will be moving soon, so LAFC will enjoy him for the next years.
Torres played just 15 minutes against Portland Timbers, enought to give his team a tie. It was his sixth appearance in the field, always entering from the bench. LAFC are now fourth in the Western Conference, with 25 points gained after 18 games played. In their last four games, facing LA Galaxy, Dynamo Houston, San Jose Earthquakes and Timbers once again, they will try to keep it in the playoffs zone.
