Many football fans are upset to think about the retirement of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. The two players are arguably the greatest players of all time, as they dominated the football scene for many years. While there are not many years left before they become professional footballers, their future still remains to be involved in football. Ronaldo is tipped to become a manager in the future, as his leadership skills are what many believe could help him become a great coach for teams. The same should not be said about Lionel Messi, as the Argentine once again says that he doesn’t see himself as a coach or a manager for a team in the future. The Argentine star said, “I don’t see myself as a coach, I don’t like that. Although I can’t predict the future in football, I find it really difficult but if there’s one thing that’s connected to football, it’s my life.” He has reportedly said he would like to work for FC Barcelona in the future but not as a manager.

Cristiano Ronaldo spoke in 2017, while he was at Real Madrid, about becoming a manager and hinted that in the future, he would become a coach for a team. Ronaldo said, “I think a lot about it. Right now [2017], I don’t want to be a manager. At the moment, I just want to focus on my football, mission. Nobody knows what the future holds. In five, six, seven years, I might change my mind and become a manager.”

Messi knows that the future of a professional footballer is close, and he talked about not wanting to quit as a footballer. Messi said, “I’m not ready to leave football. I’ve done this my whole life. I love playing the game. I enjoy the day-to-day, the training, the matches.. There’s always a bit of fear that it will all come to an end. I’m aware that the time is approaching, and I’m having a good time. I enjoy the small details that I will miss when I no longer play.”

Lionel Messi on being world champion

Messi finally achieved winning the World Cup with Argentina in 2022 in Qatar as the game against France finished 3-3 after extra time, and Argentina won 4-2 on penalties. It was a special moment for Messi and the people of Argentina, and he talked about finally winning the trophy that he always wanted. Messi said, “It is very difficult to be a world champion, and not everyone can get this trophy. The World Cup came at the right time. Being the world champion changed my life. This was the only thing I was missing. Winning the World Cup is the ultimate and most complete, especially since I am Argentine. It is the dream of any player.” Although he won the trophy with Argentina already, fans want him to play in the next World Cup, which is two years away.
