Barcelona have known for some weeks that they will need a new coach for next season. After the 5-3 defeat in Montjuic against Villarreal on January 27, Xavi Hernandez announced in a press conference his decision to leave once Los Blaugranas' participation in La Liga and the Champions League is over. Disappointing results and poor performances were the main reason for his departure, but also harsh criticism from the press and some fans.

Since then newspapers, TV shows and social media have been flooded with rumors about the future coach of the Catalan side. After the first mentioned Rafael Marquez and Thiago Motta were discarded, the main options were some German managers who have had successful experiences in recent years. Jürgen Klopp is the favorite of president Joan Laporta, but according to reports he wants to take a year off after leaving Liverpool.

Other possible replacements for Xavi are Hansi Flick, Julian Nageslmann and Joachim Löw, but none of them seem to satisfy the club's chiefs. However, another German coach could be in the running: Thomas Tuchel. He obtained excellent results with Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea (in fact, he won the Champions League with the Blues in 2021), but his current situation is not good at all.

With Bayern Munich, Tuchel has had many problems this season, and not only on the field. Results have been disappointing, as they lost the German Super Cup final against RB Leipzig, were eliminated from the German Cup against Saarbrucken and are eight points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga standings. But there are also rumors about his bad relationship with some of the squad's stars, such as Joshua Kimmich.

What about the Premier League?

In addition to the Barcelona option, Thomas Tuchel was mentioned as a possible replacement for Erik Ten Hag at Manchester United. Former Red Devils player Steve Bruce, in an interview with OLBG, said, "Thomas Tuchel would be a good fit wherever he goes and I think it was a bit harsh that he ever lost his job with Chelsea in the first place." That adds to the information revealed by journalist Christian Falk, who claimed that Tuchel wants to return to the Premier League and that he has always been interested in Manchester United.
