Thierry Henry, one of the most iconic footballers of his generation, shocked the world by revealing his struggles with depression throughout much of his career. In a candid interview on the podcast "The Diary of a CEO", the former French striker shared intimate details about his internal battle, admitting that he "cried almost every day" during certain periods of his life.

Despite being known for his charisma and smile on the field, Henry disclosed that his fight with depression began in childhood and continued throughout his professional career. The constant pressure to meet his parents' expectations, combined with loneliness and a relentless pursuit of perfection, led to deep feelings of sadness and distress.

"Throughout my career and since I was born, I must have been in depression," Henry confessed. "I didn’t know it. Did I do something about it? Obviously not. But I adapted in some way." The former player explained that despite his immense success in football, he always felt an internal pressure to prove his worth and please others.

The COVID-19 pandemic marked a turning point for Henry. The isolation and inability to see his children brought him to a profound emotional low. "I cried almost every day for no reason. The tears just fell," he revealed.

By sharing his experience, Henry hopes to raise awareness and help others who may be facing similar challenges. His story serves as a powerful reminder that even elite athletes can suffer from mental health issues and that seeking help is crucial in overcoming these struggles.
