Born in Planaltina, Brazil, on May 8, 1978, Lucimar da Silva Ferreira, better known as Lúcio, left a lasting mark on world football. His towering presence and solid defensive play made him one of the most respected central defenders of his era.

Lúcio began his professional career in Brazil, making a name for himself at Internacional de Porto Alegre. His performances earned him a transfer to Bayer Leverkusen in 2001, where he quickly established himself as one of the Bundesliga’s top defenders.

Lucio’s Reign at Bayern Munich

Lúcio’s career reached its peak during his time at Bayern Munich. Over five seasons (2004-2009), he became a key player for the Bavarian giants, winning numerous titles, including three Bundesliga championships and three German Cups.

After his successful stint in Germany, Lúcio moved to Italy, where he played for Inter Milan and Juventus. With Inter, he added more trophies to his collection, while his time at Juventus was less notable.

Later in his career, Lúcio returned to Brazil, playing for clubs such as São Paulo, Palmeiras, and Gama. He also had a brief spell in India with FC Goa.

Lucio’s Story with the Brazilian National Team

On the international stage, Lúcio was a standout for Brazil. He played in three World Cups (2002, 2006, and 2010), winning the 2002 World Cup in Korea-Japan. He also competed in several editions of the Copa América and the Confederations Cup.
