Manchester City wants to continue their dominance in the Premier League as they look forward to the upcoming season by trying to win a fifth consecutive league title. They have just won four consecutive Premier League titles under Pep Guardiola, an achievement no team has reached. The club has now signed a player that will make them even stronger. Man City announced the signing of Sávio Moreira De Oliveira, Savinho, who was borned in São Mateus Brazil.
The Brazilian winger was amazing for Girona this past season and helped the team qualify for the Champions League next season for the first time in the club's history. Man City signed Savio from Troyes, a club that is under the City Football Group company.
Savio has not played a game for Man City yet, but he has already made a great gesture that has made the club's fans feel nostalgic. The Brazilian winger picked the number 26 for next season and picked it to show his appreciation for Riyad Mahrez. Savio spoke about why he chose the number and said, "Since little, my dream was to get to Man City, Friends always said I looked a bit like him, but Mahrez is Mahrez, Savio is Savio... But I really like Mahrez, the way he plays. He's an inspiration here, that’s why I chose his number."
Savinho continued to express how happy he was about the move. The Brazilian winger said, "I’m so happy to join Man City, the Premier League champions and Club World Cup winners. Everyone knows they are the best team in the world right now, so to be here is very exciting for me. I’m excited about the chance to work under Pep Guardiola, one of the greatest coaches ever."
He spoke about the challenge he is about to face and said, "I had an amazing time in Spain, and I’m looking forward to a new challenge in the Premier League alongside some of the best players in the world. I can’t wait to meet the fans and my new teammates and hopefully be a part of bringing more success to Man City."
Savinho played a total of 41 matches for Girona this past season across all competitions. He scored 11 goals and provided ten assists across all competitions.
He earned a call-up to the Brazilian national team for Copa America. He played in all four matches for Brazil in the competition this summer. He scored in the 4-1 win against Paraguay.
